Suicide –
Let's talk about it

An (online) exhibition on suicide

Museum of Sepulchral Culture (Kassel, Germany)
17. September 2021 – 27. February 2022 (and online)

The Museum for Sepulchral Culture shows its comprehensive special exhibition on suicide since World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th, 2021. This exhibition presents examples from art and cultural history, medicine, the humanities and social sciences to provide information, suggestions, challenges, and opportunities to reflect on how society and individuals deal with suicide. A book publication as well as an extensive event programme accompanies the exhibition in cooperation with other institutions, associations and societies. The aim is to promote public communication on suicide. (Source: www.sepulkralmuseum.de)

Lorenz Widmaier contributed to the exhibition the voice of those affected. The quotes originate from interviews he conducted with bereaved persons for his research on digital legacies and digital mourning. They are shown in a slightly adapted form.

On this page you will find photographs from the exhibition that make the voice of those affected visible. You can see all works of the exhibition via a link to a 360° online version. Read more about the exhibition on the website of the Museum for Sepulchral Culture.

Many thanks to all my research participants who contributed to the exhibition!
